OSRAM at the ISAL 2019

23.09.2019 | Events

At the ISAL 2019 in Darmstadt (23rd to 25th of September 2019), OSRAM will be showing the latest innovations in automotive lighting. ISAL, the International Symposium for Automotive Lighting, is one of the most important and recognized symposia on automotive lighting worldwide. This year, new products and innovations will be presented directly from the stand.

There is a lot to discover: LEDriving Headlights, eXchangeable LED light Sources, Human Centric Lighting for automotive and the Driver Monitoring System. We will briefly explain these innovations in our highlights.

The OSRAM highlights at ISAL 2019:

Flexible OLEDs

eXchangeable LED light Sources (XLS)

OSRAM’s new eXchangeable LED light Source (XLS) is a standardized LED module, paving the way for LED use in high volume vehicle segments.

These light sources combine the benefits of both exchangeable light sources and LEDs to enable low total cost position, design freedom and compact lamp construction. XLS covers all signal light functions and fog lighting.

Human Centric Lighting for automotive

Human centric lighting is the art of creating lighting that mimics the natural daylight that drives our bodily functions. It enhances human performance, comfort, health and wellbeing.

For more safety while driving, the driver's vital functions are continuously measured with the help of health tracking. In interaction with human-centric lighting, the interior illumination can react to the mood of the passenger. For example, the light is adjusted to warm white to create a more comfortable atmosphere for the tired passenger.

Driver Monitoring System

The Driver Monitoring System, is a vehicle safety system which uses an IR sensitive camera, to monitor driver attentiveness. Specifically, the Driver Monitoring System includes a camera placed on the steering column which is capable of eye tracking, via infrared LED detectors. If the driver is not paying attention to the road ahead and a dangerous situation is detected, the system will warn the driver and advises the fatigued driver to pull over and rest.

OSRAM plays a leading role in continuously developing better IREDs, used to illuminate the driver´s face with invisible infrared (IR) light to detect whether the driver is getting tired or distracted.
