TGA – Thermo Gravimetric Analysis

Thermogravimetric analysis is a method of thermal analysis in which the mass (usually mass loss) of a sample is measured over time during a give temperature program.

This measurement provides information about physical phenomena, such as phase transitions, absorption and desorption. Furthermore chemical phenomena like thermal decomposition or solid-gas reactions (e.g. oxidation or reduction) can be investigated.

Depending on the analytic issue the TGA can be run with different carrier gases (inert, air/oxygen, forming gas).
